The Paris metro, a symbol of the capital's daily hustle and bustle, was plunged into an unusual silence during the Covid-19 crisis.

One evening, armed with my camera, I decided to capture this unique moment. I descended into the bowels of the Paris metro, usually teeming with hurried passengers, street musicians, and announcers of all kinds. But this time, the platforms were deserted, the seats empty, and silence reigned supreme. The clatter of my footsteps echoed through the empty corridors, creating a strange melody in harmony with the unprecedented atmosphere that pervaded this once so familiar place. The illuminated advertisements continued to flash, but no one was looking at them. The timetables displayed departures that would not take place, a stark reminder of the absence of normal activity.

I captured these images of the deserted subway, a poignant symbol of the city's fight against the pandemic. It was a visual representation of the collective sacrifice we were making to protect the most vulnerable and contain the spread of the virus. An image of the empty subway that I hoped would become the visual record of this extraordinary period in our history.
