YEZIDIS
In Iraqi Kurdistan, at the heart of the Kabarto camp, resides a community of over 20,000 Yazidis displaced from Sinjar by the devastation wrought by the Taliban. This poignant story reflects the human tragedies that have shaken this region, tormented by incessant conflict.
Within this camp, the overwhelming majority, approximately two-thirds, are children. Their situation is particularly worrying, as they are deprived of stability, education, and a future, and bear the invisible scars of the horrors they have faced.
The adults, for their part, had to adapt to their new reality. In such a precarious environment, they found ways to make a living by setting up small shops, repairing shelters in the camp, and sometimes even engaging in armed conflicts to defend their community. Their resilience is admirable, because despite the challenges they face, they persist in building a life in a context marked by uncertainty.
